Phase 2: District Biosecurity, Tanzania and Uganda

Phase 2 - on reporting via SMS - involved pilot work to install and train users in the use of a new reporting system based on SMS. Approximately 200 people were trained in the districts of Muleba, (full list of districts). The phase culminated in presentations to national stakeholders in pest and disease surveillance and in meetings with senior officials to begin discussion of possible ways of improving surveillance and early warning in Uganda and Tanzania.
