Launch of the FSN Forum- 16th October 2007
“At the dawn of the 21st century, it is simply unacceptable that more than 800 million people in developing and transition countries should continue to be hungry and over a billion to live on less than a dollar a day. It is thus of outmost importance that knowledge and information regarding food security and nutrition at all levels becomes available to all stakeholders, to all participants in the food security and nutrition debate, analysis and policy. Such knowledge has to be translated into actionable policy messages and informed policy action” – said Mr. Kostas Stamoulis, Coordinator of the initiative.
The FSN Forum is launched on the World Food Day 16th October 2007 with an e-discussion on “Drawing lessons from food security and nutrition research, analysis and information for improved decision making and response”, facilitated by Mr. Mark Smulders, coordinator of the FAO-FIVIMS Programme .
