The UN Secretary-General and the President of the UN General Assembly convened a High-level Event on the Millennium Development Goals at UN Headquarters in New York on 25 September 2008. Following this event a High-level Event Blog was launched recently to discuss the themes and the two cross-cutting issues of the Roundtables of the Event. The blog can be accessed from the home page of the HLE website or at: http://www.mdg-gateway.org/MDG-Blog/ The Roundtables of the Event are: - Education and Health - Environmental Sustainability - Poverty and Hunger Gender Equality and Global Partnership for Development are cross-cutting issues in all three Roundtables. Background reading: Millennium Development Report 2008 officially launched on the 11th September 2008. The report summarizes progress towards the eight Millennium Development goals in each of the ten major geographic regions.
