To be based in the ICRISAT regional hub at Niamey, NIGER. The selected candidate will work within a newly approved project entitled "Harnessing Opportunities for Productivity Enhancement (HOPE) of Sorghum and Millets in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia". Integrate himself/herself into an interdisciplinary team of breeders, molecular eneticists, agronomists, socio-economists, food technologists, seed systems pecialists and technology transfer experts from ICRISAT, National Agricultural Research Institutes and development partners. Maize Genetic Resources Specialist – Post-Doctoral Fellow or Scientist
CIMMYT is looking for a well qualified scientist to join its international team working to improve access and use of maize genetic resources. As a member of the CIMMYT Genetic Resources Center and in collaboration with public, private, local and international partners, the position has responsibilities to develop and implement CIMMYT’s vision to safe-guard, expand and utilize the world’s largest collection of tropical maize genetic resources for the benefit of human kind. The position is based in Mexico and is a career-track position. The CIMMYT Maize Genetic Resources Collection is the largest repository of maize landrace accessions in the world. Characterization, distribution and use of this germplasm are major objectives for CIMMYT, as is the development and coordination of associated web-enabled informatics resources.  Minimum qualifications: PhD degree in molecular genetics, plant breeding, genetic resource conservation or botany.  Keen interest to explore the wealth of variation contained in maize genetic resources and link with users of such variation.
